Breakers will crash upon the shore
And sweep away the empty bottles littered on the sand
Empty bottles once filled with
Sweet words, kind touches, soft breaths
Alluring whispers, teasing murmurs, innocence's death
(evaporates
leaves behind emptiness
like all the promises once made)
Breakers will crash upon the shore
And with its tide displace shards of glass buried deep beneath, in between
Glass shattered by the blows of the world -
All that glitters is not gold
fall upon them, bleed upon them
Breakers will crash upon the shore
And blot away words written, soak through the papers, rinsing through the papercuts
Stained papers crumpled, torn
Shame writ; sorrow, misery
The pain of rejection stapled through the pages
Bound by plastic spirals of
the endless cycle of worthlessness
Swept away by the waves of His grace
There will be no other recycling
Than the exchange of our litter for His treasure
When His Love and His Glory floods in
keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings {psalms 17:8}

Let His Love and Glory Flood In (Breakers Will Crash)
Saturday, August 4, 2012
Father,
I pray for Your guidance and leading in my life.
Cover me, and remind me that I am covered, with Your precious blood every day of my life, every where that I go.
Grant me the mind of Christ in all things-
to be aware of You, and wary in all I do.
to trust You and seek You always.
Please lead me to that place where You
become my Everything.
Help me, Jesus,
Because I know I will never be able to do this on my own.
Because I know only Your strength will prevail and help me to persevere in this life.
Becaise I know that You can.
Be my life, my Everything-
the treasure of my heart, the praise of my mouth, the reason for my living.
Let this not be about me. But in all ways may it be about You.
Thank You for loving me.
Thank You for Your kindness that leads to repentance.
Thank You for grace,
and faith,
and hope.
You hold Your hands out and wait for me. Ever patient. Ever loving.
But I hesitate to reach out and put my hands in Yours. For reasons that I know are all too clear, but entirely vague at the same time. So I withhold my hands, fear stopping me from reaching out.
Still He stands, holding out His arms; outstretched hands.
I am incredulous. Scoffing. Tired. Disbelieving.
"Aren't You going to be tired eventually? Holding out Your hands? Will You wait forever? How long will it be before You tire out?"
But even before questioning, I know the answers.
His hands never tire.
Arms that bore my sins on the cross.
Arms that took the weight of the world.
He won't turn away.
I pray for Your guidance and leading in my life.
Cover me, and remind me that I am covered, with Your precious blood every day of my life, every where that I go.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?
Wake me up, breathe into me. As I find peace again in unfailing grace. As my soul stirs in the warmth of Your love, like how the sun rays beam down upon the drooping daisy that has seen too many days of rain.
Whisper softly, call my name. As I still my heart again to hear Your voice. As my soul rests and listens for the path You have laid out for me, like how You are the Master Potter and all is in Your hands for You to mould as You will.
Gentle presence, guide my life. As I lay it all down again to follow after You. As I choose to pick up my cross daily, my very self denied for the righteousness of Christ, and in Him I live and move and have my being.
Able arms, pick me up. As I find myself being lifted upon eagle's wings. As I hope in Him and surrender all, giving up my right to understand and be in control - For once again, I remind myself, this is not my life.
"I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live -
But Christ lives in me.
The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God -
Who loved me, and gave Himself for me."

His Eyes
Hands strong and able, heart open; expanding wide, engulfing the multitudes of stars with eyes that shine ever brighter. Breath-giving Saviour, life tugging at our heartstrings to be pulled back to You. Alive in Your springtime of awakening, winter gives way to the renewing of all things. Colours unseen by the eyes but felt by the soul, our spirits resound with the recognition of the Voice so sweet. Teardrops of rainbows, mists of shimmering glass; eyes so strong, and bright, and bold. The lion throws back it's head and lets out a roar that shakes the surrounding grass, mane catching the sunlight and eyes of liquid gold - but Yours are ever brighter. Intense and arresting. Settling to our souls, yet unsettling our hearts to their very core. Our eyes meet and Yours enter deeper than mere vision. They search in and search out, wreck and heal, all the while bearing love.
Love is looking me in the eyes and I am looking into Love.
Love is sorting out my life and I am all the more willing
to dive
into this
bold
furious
passionate
arresting
Love.
Love is here and
He is alive.
Love is here and
He is ready -
With eyes shining ever brighter still.
Love is looking me in the eyes and I am looking into Love.
Love is sorting out my life and I am all the more willing
to dive
into this
bold
furious
passionate
arresting
Love.
Love is here and
He is alive.
Love is here and
He is ready -
With eyes shining ever brighter still.

Others May — You Cannot.
Others May — You Cannot.
by G.D Watson
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I
live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." - Galatians 2:20
Others can brag on themselves, and their work, on their success, on their writings, but the Holy Spirit will not allow you to do any such thing, and if you begin it, He will lead you into some deep mortification that will make you despise yourself and all your good works.
The Lord will let others be honored and put forward, and keep you hid away in obscurity because He wants to produce some choice fragrant fruit for His glory, which can be produced only in the shade.
Others will be allowed to succeed in making money, but it is likely God will keep you poor because he wants you to have something far better than gold and that is a helpless dependence on Him; that He may have the privilege of supplying your needs day by day - out of an unseen treasury.
God will let others be great, but He will keep you small. He will let others do a great work for Him and get credit for it, but He will make you work and toil on without knowing how much you are doing; and then to make your work still more precious, He will let others get the credit for the work you have done, and this will make your reward ten times greater when He comes.
The Holy Spirit will put strict watch over you, with a jealous love, and will rebuke you for little words and feelings, or for wasting your time, which other Christians never seem distressed over.
So make up your mind that God is an infinite Sovereign, and has a right to do what He pleases with His own, and He will not explain to you a thousand things which may puzzle your reason in His dealing with you. He will wrap you up in a jealous love, and let other people say and do many things that you cannot do or say.
Settle it forever, that you are to deal directly with the Holy Spirit, and that He is to have the privilege of tying your tongue, or chaining your hand, or closing your eyes, in ways that others are not dealt with.
Now, when you are so possessed with the Living God that you are, in your secret heart, pleased and delighted over this particular personal, private, jealous guardianship and management of the Holy Spirit over your life, you will have found the vestibule of heaven.
I know the Devil delights when I feel left out by God. I know he rejoices when I question God and His ways and seeds of doubt are readily planted. And when I feel like I have been pushed to one side by God, cheated out of my inheritance, and so, so, so, alone - trumpets of victory are blown in the darkness.
He is the father of lies. Of guilt, doubts, worthlessness. Deceit, pride, envy. And I know he roams my life, looking for areas where his demons can set to work, where he can begin to creep in unnoticed and start to destroy. His tools are doubts, delighting in overwhelming worthlessness, inciting fear and rejection; how heavy are his chains of guilt and bondage! And what victory he gains when we do not fight back, self-controlled and alert against the wiles of him who prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for one to devour! He laughs when we are blind and stupid, not realising that he must flee when we stand firm.
The father of worthless idols knows the Father of All that is Good, and even his demons know that there is one God - and they tremble! The god of this world knows that the God of the Universe has good plans for my life - and so he tries to steal. Steal away my faith, my trust, my confidence in His justice. So he tries to kill - my hope in the Lord, that He is faithful to all His promises, loving towards all He has made. And he tries to destroy - all my efforts done for the Lord, making them seem worthless and futile, and as if God had forgotten me.
But the Devil will get no victory in this life of mine.. I stand on His Word. That I am born of God, overcoming this world, not living of it. That He who is loving and faithful gives what is needed to His creatures at the proper time, in His time, and satisfies the desires of every living thing. That I am arranged in this part of the body right where He wants me to be - I cannot be an eye and desire to be an ear, or say that I am not part of the body because I do not have the same role as the feet, or say to the neck that I do not need it. Because if we were all an ear, where would the sense in that be? And if we were all one part, where would the body be? For the body is made up of many parts - but it is one with Christ as it's life.
And He tells me that those parts of the body which seem to be weaker are in fact, indispensable... And the parts which are unseen, thought as less honourable, we treat with special honour.
The Lord does not see things as man sees,
He looks beyond the outward appearances
and into the heart.
(2 Peter 5:8, James 2:19, John 10:10, Psalm 145:13-16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, 1 Samuel 16:7)

Genesis 22, The Grief of a Father
Hearing the words that stunned him. Rendered him speechless. Wondering. Confusion. Numbness. The words that broke his heart.
Had he heard the Lord rightly? The Lord he knew as just and faithful? The Lord who had made for him many great promises, a God who did not lie? ... A burnt offering?
Stunned. His son. His one and only son. But his Lord was good, his Lord was faithful. His Lord is. He would make a way - He had to. ... Wouldn't he?
Grief. Shock. Numbness. Packing the tools. Walking up the mountain. His son, his only son.. But for the Lord, anything. He would restore. He would heal. He had known and heard too many times His holiness and glorious voice. ... Hadn't he?
Obedience. Faith. Belief. Those words faltered and swam around his mind. Not fully taking place - only a blind trusting. A trembling heart full of grief. His son, his only son! Sacrifice. Offering. Death. Lapsed promises. But for the Lord.. Anything.
Father, where is the lamb for the burnt offering?
Oh, how his heart broke! How his lips quivered, his knuckles white against the walking stick he was leaning on. Tears forming like shining pearls at the corners of his eyes. Where is the sacrifice?
No, my son. God Himself will provide the lamb.
And so they walked. Silence.
The place on the mountain reached. The birds flew past in the air, strangely silent. A stagnant wind. The time had come.
... Father, why do you do this? Why, father - Why?
His heart could not shatter more than it already had. His son, the son whom he loved! Turning aside his head for the moment of darkness. Arm raised above his beloved. Glittering, deadly, death.
But
Abraham. Abraham. Stop.
A voice from Heaven. Lifting his tear stained face - hope was glimmering like dawn breaking over the waters. Faithfulness Himself had come. Hope had arrived. Deliverance was here.
---
I believe that Abraham truly felt a deep grief when he was told by God to sacrifice his son whom he loved, Isaac, as a burnt offering. I believe that Abraham had questions. Tears, hesitations, a broken heart. But the Bible did not record down what Abraham felt - the Bible recorded down what Abraham did. Abraham chose obedience and actions. Walking up that mountain, I don't think he was singing songs of praise to God. But I do believe Abraham trusted the Lord that had given him favour and blessings throughout his life, believing that He knew what He was doing. In the end, his son was saved and the Lord gave an amazing promise that Abraham's descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the shore.
---
How was the grief of God the Father as He watched His one and only Son walking the distance to His death on the cross? The pain of Abraham multiplied - no way out for this but for a real suffering and a real pain. The nails. The cry from His Son's lips - Father, Father, why have you forsaken me? He shut His eyes, turned away His face, a heaving grief, but altogether knowing this was the only way. The only way... And they said darkness covered the earth. And the veil into the Holy of Holies was torn. And - But wait. Listen - an echoing resonance throughout heaven -
"Father forgive them... For they know not what they do."
Finished. It is finished.

"Facebook message me! Twitter isn't working, I can't DM you right now", "Hey check your phone I texted you", "Why didn't you reply my Whatsapp/BBM/iMessage?" - I am so sick of technology accelerating a relationship that is premature. Think about it. Just because two people have texted each other 6 hours a day for two weeks, they assume they know everything about each other. Well, no. Technology can never communicate sincerity, the millions of facial expressions, intonations, a hurting pause, the flicker of an eye, as well as reality can. Don't expect wonders beyond a screen. Don't settle for an instant connectivity to substitute a beautiful experience. Optical fibers ain't gonna give you the same sparks that a real conversation can. Instant messaging takes no effort on each other's part. Call me a cavelady who's still stuck trying to relive the chivalry of the Middle Ages, but I think, oh wait, I know I'm pretty much worth the pursuit.

1 Timothy 6:6
Spending time with God always puts everything into perspective. It's choosing to say, my life isn't okay right now and these feelings are not right, and God, You have to show me and tell me why I feel this way. God, I'm not budging till you tell me why. I don't care how terrible You tell me my heart is or how much darkness I am still hiding or the things I tell myself I am not - God, You need to show me because I am never going to go beyond this mark and I know I am not going to grow if I don't know the reason why. We can never grow if we are trying to move forward but we know somewhere that there is something not right. The reasons why it's not right doesn't seem very clear and sometimes it doesn't even seem important. But that snag could be what holds us back and tears a hole in us that can only get bigger over time if we don't mend it. The Holy Spirit is there in us for a reason, to guide us and to teach us. He is God in us. He is uneasy when there is something in us which isn't right with God. He tells us. The small pangs of conviction in us is a sign for us to check our motives and reasons and heart. Always checking and searching our heart is discipline for us - and discipline never seems pleasant at that time, but painful. However, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:11)
Child,
why are you comparing
as if all that I have given you
is not enough?
But God, no
You gave Your life up for me
how could that not be enough?
Then
I have given you all you need,
compare no more.
"Godliness with contentment is great gain."
Child,
why are you comparing
as if all that I have given you
is not enough?
But God, no
You gave Your life up for me

compare no more.

Light of Love
I am sitting here in front of the computer, still in my pajamas, enjoying a plate of potatoes. To be exact, a potato cut in half and about a quarter of the insides scooped out, fried, filled in with cheese, sprinkled with some salt, and melted. Amazing. (Seems like the only things I'm good at cooking are eggs and potatoes.. This needs to change.)
These few days I've been pretty irritated by someone who just goes around telling everyone off, as if everything should be done her way to benefit her. Its like she criticizes others and tries to correct their attitudes without realising that block of wood in her own eye. I'm sure we've all met with that kind of person before, or even actually been that kind of person (I know I have) - and they are so hard to love. I talked, angered, ranted, repented, threw my hands up in disgust, ranted, repented, to my Father about this. Not just talking about the-one-so-hard-to-love but also talking about myself, and how deep down, I knew that I actually didn't want to choose to love her. Wrestling with the fact that the love I give out is actually a choice to look beyond all imperfections and irritations, and how I wanted to love her but at the same time I didn't want to surrender my disappointments (I wanted revenge actually, sorry! That's the old nature for you. Its no wonder Paul always wrote letters to the churches telling them to cast off the old nature and put on Christ.) to God. Like a child that doesn't want to share his favourite toy train with anyone else, I didn't want to surrender my irritations because I wanted to use it to play around with and cause hurt to the other person.
Finally, exhausted, slightly more mellowed out but still frustrated... I sat still and listened.
Hannah, you pray and you ask Me to make you more and more like Me. You pray and say that you want to learn to love like how I love, and live the way I live. But now..
Oh.
.. But now when the unlovable comes, are you going to love like Me, or were those prayers just for show?
Oh.
Ouch.
That was a wake-up call, a much-needed rap on the knuckles from Heaven. But so much truth in it. We pray and we plead and we cry out in desperation for God to change us, for God to mold us to be like Him, for God to teach us to love everyone like How he does. However when people who are the epitome of unlovable cross out paths, we get angry and judgmental and yell to God about how He could bring such people into our lives. We expect to be able to love just like Jesus because we pray for it, but when He throws us into the arena of life, we fail miserably.
Because we preach without practising, and we don't even realise it. Faith without works is dead.

I Think I Wanna Marry You
“Recreational dating is a heresy. It’s a phenomenon. I’ll have young men walk into my office, and they’ll have that look—they’re ‘in love’. They say, ‘Oh, you know, I’m just in love!’ And I’ll say, ‘Well, that’s absolutely wonderful. Why do you want to marry her?’ ‘Well, I want to marry her because she’s beautiful. Because when I’m with her, I just feel so good, and we can talk, and communicate…’
I look at him, and say, ‘What happens when someone else comes along that is more beautiful than she is—are you going to leave her? What happens when you can’t communicate with her, but you can communicate with the lady at the bank a lot better than you can with her—are you going to leave her?’
And I start go through these different things, and by the end, the young man discovers the only reason why he’s in this is to meet his self centred selfish desires.
And that’s what recreational dating is about. It’s about a young man, who has no business whatsoever even thinking about these things, wanting to be with someone of the opposite sex, and yet, unwilling to make the commitments that God requires.”
—Paul Washer
What is the purpose of flirting? I somehow don't think anyone should flirt unless their intent is to get into a relationship with that person, and then marry him/her. Because if marriage isn't the point of a relationship, then what exactly is the point of that relationship? To make us feel good about ourselves, that there's someone out there who, y'know, makes us feel like we're wanted, loved, adored? I think that just blatantly vomits out the fact that we're insecure and desperate for the security of being loved, as if we aren't already loved infinitely. If the intent of flirting is to get the other person to fall for you, but you have no interest of pursuing a relationship, much less marriage, then you've already paved the way for your brother/sister in Christ to stumble. You've already laid down the bricks to an emotional roller-coaster. "Does he think I'm pretty?", "Does she think I'm handsome?", "He's talking to her, he doesn't like me after all," "Oh my God she gave me a hug. She interested". And when you flip away like a double-sided coin and turn your affections to another, you've probably started something you could have avoided. Insecurities. Hurt. Jealousy. "I'm not good enough," "I will never be as pretty as her," "This is because I'm ugly." Flirting without a thought about what you could do emotionally or spiritually or physically to another does not show love. Love looks out for others. Love guards others. Love leads another on closer and closer towards Christ - not you.
Here's something short written by Leslie Ludy, a woman of God whose love story was one amazingly crafted by the Creator of romance Himself (I just bought her book and I can't wait to read it!). Her set apart life was one that ultimately honored God, and God blessed it hundred-fold in return.
Shortly before my love story with Eric began, he and my dad met together one morning at Perkins Family Restaurant. It was a memorable conversation, which greatly affected our relationship before it even started. My dad told Eric many things that day, but one statement in particular stood out, “I know that your friendship with Leslie is from God,” my dad said, “because ever since you have been in her life, she has drawn closer to Jesus Christ.”
Later, when I pondered those words, I was amazed at how true they were. Since the very first day I had met Eric Ludy, he had done nothing but inspire me to pursue more and more of my true Prince. He lived a life of passionate abandonment to his Lord. Following after Jesus Christ with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength seemed to be his sole preoccupation in life. Whenever I was around him, his spiritual fire seemed to ignite my own, and after being with him I would usually end up on my knees poring over my Bible, digesting all the new thoughts and insights he had inspired within me. Throughout our friendship, Eric had never attempted to draw my attention to himself, but always pointed me back to my true Prince, Jesus Christ. He actively helped me protect my inner sanctuary.
Even after our romance officially began, he continued to lead me right back into the arms of my Prince. As excited as I was about having Eric in my life, I learned not to lean on this newly discovered human love for my fulfillment and security. Though God had so faithfully blessed me with a beautiful human love story, it was still in my inner sanctuary of intimacy with Him that I found my reason to live. Even now, after years of marriage, Eric’s primary goal is to lead me closer and closer to Christ every day we are together. He continues to help me protect the most sacred part of who I am—my inner sanctuary of intimacy with my true Prince.
Every stage of a love story that is truly initiated by our Prince—both the friendship and the romance—only enhances our intimacy with Him. If a relationship is not leading us closer and closer to Him, it will quickly become just another one of the “other lovers” cluttering up our sanctuary. Sadly, too many of us begin to build an inner sanctuary for our Prince and then get thrown completely off course because of a romantic relationship. A romantic relationship might very well have been initiated by God, but the moment our focus moves from our Prince to a human love story is the moment we cease to guard our sanctuary, and our entire foundation for success crumbles into ashes. A relationship that leads us closer to our Prince and carefully protects our inner sanctuary is the key to discovering romance as it was truly intended to be—a little taste of heaven on earth.
I'm not being judgmental in this post, because everything that I've written serves as a reminder to me - What do my word, actions, motives, really mean? To glorify self, glorify man, or glorify the One that created it all? This week, a friend told me how someone had flirted with her, but he had no intention of anything at all. It just got me thinking about the purpose of flirting. Honestly, if you don't intend to pursue, don't flirt!
"Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God, and respect the king." {1 Peter 2:17}
"Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved." {1 Corinthians 10:32-33}

As children of God and loving the Father who created us, all we can do is give all that we are up to Him. We offer up our lives as living sacrifices, and this includes reserving our body for the marriage bed. This physical purity is often mentioned in His Word, however, is purity all about the sex, lust and matters of the body? Purity also has its place in the heart, amongst our emotions and feelings. Although having a 'crush' or someone that you consider special is never mentioned as 'sinful' in the Bible, His Word clearly mentions one thing - "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." (Proverbs 4:23) Another version states, "Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life."
Distractions can come, even in the form of childish fantasies that seem harmless (Hmm.. I wonder how it would be like if he were my boyfriend... *insert fantasy full of perfume scented unicorns and scenes from The Notebook here*) but whats dangerous (or so I've found out) is when you let your emotions cloud your judgement and wisdom. Just something I've been pondering. Just because lips haven't met doesn't mean hearts haven't joined - So what really is emotional purity? How can I keep my heart pure for Jesus and for the man He has already kept in His plans for me? How far is too far in my affections for others till the point where I am compromising the purity of my heart? What does Jesus think about the state of my purity, where do the boundaries lie?
Right now, I think that whatever (Or, you know, whoever) draws me further from where He is instead of bringing closer and closer towards Him, is just not where I am supposed to be. That if I am desiring something else other than His presence and His love, then I've got a biiiiiiiig problem. That if I prefer being in the presence of another instead of spending time with Him, then that shows that my heart is not satisfied with what I have experienced of God, and I'll be darned if I'm gonna allow myself to stop running after Him and experiencing the fullness of His love!
I'll end this post with Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" and a statement... Paul wouldn't have said that Christ would guard your hearts if there were nuthin' to guard.
Our culture teaches us that if something is good, we should seek to enjoy it immediately. So we microwave our food, e-mail our letters, and express mail our packages. We do our best to escape the confines of time by accelerating our schedules, speeding up our pace, and doing whatever it takes to beat the clock. You probably know what I mean. How did you respond last time you had to wait in line for something? Did you patiently wait your turn, or did you tap your toe and try to rush the experience?
God has many wonderful experiences He wants to give to us, but He also assigns these experiences to particular seasons of our lives. We often make the mistake, however, of taking a good thing out of its appropriate season to enjoy it when we want it. Just because something is good doesn’t mean we should pursue it right now. Remember that the right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing.

Sometimes we ask ourselves, why do we always seem to try so hard? We try so hard to get acceptance from others and we try to hard to become like the people we idolise, people that we think are pretty or handsome or seem to have it all together - Why don't we try that hard to be like Jesus? Why isn't He our main idol in our life, one that we aim to be like, in our actions, words and personality? How come He is just a God-figure to us, always there, of course; Great and Almighty and All-powerful, a God in control of all our times and situations, definitely an omniscient God, but how come He doesn't seem to be like an idol in our lives?
The Bible says that idols are evil and we should not have idols in out lives, but what if we made Jesus our idol? You have to understand the context of this, of course; I do not mean an idol that you put on a shelf and adore every day, that you bow down to and worship - I mean it in the way of an idol that you treasure, and want to be like in every aspect. You know girls nowadays idolise Korean superstars? They pick their favourite one and start assimilating themselves into being the very being of that Korean superstar. Their whole life revolves around the star; they eat what she eats, talk like how she talks and acts like how she acts. The hobbies of the superstar become the hobbies of the idolater.
What if Jesus became our Korean superstar? It might seem disturbing - and even sacrilegious! - that I compare Jesus to a Korean superstar; But if you think of how people treat the superstars, its the stars themselves that get treated more like Jesus than Jesus Himself. Think about it. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, the ultimate portrayal of humility, pure and righteous in every way. What if He become more than just a Saviour to us, what if He became our treasure? Jesus was the very one that said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
And yet we wonder why our hearts are not consumed by Him - maybe we have the wrong treasures in our jars of clay?

went too far, too fast
left my sense in the abyss of
thinking the World would make more sense than the Word
the proverb said to guard your heart
but I let my wellspring of life lead to other channels
dug my own cisterns, did I not know that
broken cisterns cannot hold water?
but He knows the way that I take
and
I forget there is redemption in high places
a love as strong as death, a jealousy
as unyielding as the grave
burns like a blazing fire, this mighty flame
brings me to my knees at the reality of
what God did when
He took me into His banquet hall
put a banner over me, called out love
Peter was right to plead
"Save yourselves from this corrupt generation"
Proverbs 4:23, Jeremiah 3:13, Job 23:10, Song of Songs 8:6/2:4, Acts 2:40

When people tell me I still have my whole life in front of me, I shouldn't think so hard about my future and God's will for my life, it frustrates me. Yes, I know, I have my whole entire life in front of me. But, guess what? I could die tonight. I could die tomorrow. I could die next week. Next month. Next year. 5 years from now.Life is too short for me to be wasted by walking out of God's will.
What if, I die before the time that people expected me to die, before the time that I myself expected to die, and I am standing before God the Father, and the Book of Life is being read to see all the things I have done for the Glory of His Name in my life?
Could I bear to stand before Him knowing that there could have been so much more that I could have done for Him? Could I stand before Him with the knowledge that I could have sought His will for my life while I was still living, but did not? Could I bear looking at Him in all His glory, knowing that I have wasted precious moments of my life away on this earth?
In this life, the concept of death, to us who are young, seems like an idea so far away. Like a distant cloud on the horizon, but we are hardly aware that death can come at any time. Like a sweeping shadow, it can come and take a life just like that. We see news of deaths every single day, and yet we just cannot come to grasp the reality that We. Could. Die. This very next moment. The very next day. We acknowledge that there is death in this world happening to people all around us, but we don't acknowledge that death could happen to us.
I do not fear death. Death is just a step to finally be with my Father in Heaven. But. I cannot just spend my life away on this earth like it hardly means anything. And I cannot agree with the people that tell me I am still too young to be seeking His will for my life.
If I am not doing His will for my life, then who's will am I doing?
"Jesus didn't die halfway for you, why do you get to live halfway for Him?"
